CONFIRMED: Ronda Rousey And Holly Holm's Rematch Has A Date And Place Now
December 12, 2015
It’s happening. After what was the biggest upset in UFC history when Holly Holm literally kicked the living daylights out of Ronda Rousey, UFC president Dana White confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that a rematch will 100 percent happen and happen on July 9th. It will be the headliner for UFC 200 and take place in Las Vegas, most likely at the brand new 20,000 capacity MGM arena.
Rousey, the former UFC bantamweight champion, and one of the most dominant pound for pound fighters in the history of the sport, first fought Holm back on November 14th in Melbourne, Australia, as the main event for UFC 193. Rousey was shockingly knocked out by Holm in the 2nd round with a brutal kick to the head, and was left so badly beaten, that she was hospitalized after the fight, and suspended by the UFC for 6 months for medical reasons. According to Rousey, she’s still recovering, both physically and mentally.
You can see the knockout that shocked the world below. Even though Holly Holm is a decorated former boxing and kickboxing champion, she was a 20-1 underdog against Rousey, and shocked the world in the same manner as Buster Douglas did over Mike Tyson. Surely a rematch will have an even bigger buzz than the first fight, and could be the biggest pay per view event in the UFC’s young history.
