Mayweather Promotions form partnership with Matchroom Sport to hold a series of UK fights
As Floyd said, “We’ll match our guys against their guys.” Floyd and Eddie Hearns will be co-promoters for UK events. Leonard Ellerbe, chief executive of Mayweather Promotions, said “Floyd Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions have formed a partnership with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport to hold a series of fights in the UK matching our guys against his guys – and other fights – and we have had some great discussions. We are looking to implement this as soon as possible. The timing is right.”
Mayweather Promotions has a collection of about 21 boxers, including the British boxer Ashley Theophane, from Paddington, who fights for the World Boxing Association light-welterweight crown against American Adrien Broner on April 1 in the United States. The CEO of Mayweather Promotions said that Floyd is looking to sign many more British fighters.
Time will tell how this partnership turns out, but one this is for certain: Floyd has not truly left the boxing world.
