Fury given ten days to respond before title stripped by WBO

October 11, 2016

Tyson Fury has been given a ten day deadline to tell the WBO why they shouldn’t strip his heavyweight title, according to Boxing News.

He must give them a reason why the belt shouldn’t be taken away from him, in light of the fact that he is guilty of “inactivity, breach of contract and performance-enhancing drugs.”

Fury has withdrawn twice from his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, who he defeated last November to win the WBO title, along with the WBA and IBF belts.  The first time it was due to an ankle injury, this recent time it was due to depression.

He has been acting especially erratically in recent weeks, and has said he is retiring, then saying he isn’t hours later.

Fury has admitted to using cocaine to battle his problems, and has tested positive for it.  He says that he is receiving help now.
