Miguel Cotto will fight in February

December 6, 2016

Possible future hall of fame fighter Miguel Cotto hasn’t fought since he lost to Canelo Alvarez last November.  After a layoff of well over a year, he plans to return to action in the ring on February 25th.

According to RingTV.com, Cotto may fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas.  His promotor Bryan Perez of Roc Nation Sports said, “He should be coming back in a significant fight.  The time off has been good for him. He didn’t stay away from the gym. He’s been staying in shape. He feels good and healthy and ready to do more exciting fights.”

Perez said that the two leading contenders to fight Cotto would be James Kirkland and Lamont Peterson.  Kirkland, who hasn’t fought since he was decimated by Alvarez in the third round of their fight in May of 2015, would be a pretty questionable opponent.  Peterson hasn’t fought since October of 2015, but I think that would be a much more enjoyable fight.
