A UFC Fighter Just Accepted A Fight Challenge From Tyson Fury
December 19, 2015
The new heavyweight champion of the world Tyson Fury is known for his brash statements and absurd antics. One of his longtime antics has been calling out MMA fighters to fight him, since he wants to prove that he’s the best fighter in the world. Fury has gone on record even willing to fight with majority MMA rules, just without any takedowns.
Lucky for him, one UFC fighter has taken him up on his challenge, and that is longtime heavyweight contender Junior Dos Santos. JDS has been looking for a boxing match for years, and with Tyson Fury’s call out, it looks like he finally has found his match.
A fan recently asked JDS in a Reddit AMA if he would be willing to accept Fury’s challenge, and he basically gave a resounding yes.
“Of course I would love to fight boxing-it would be way easier to get prepared for a boxing match,” JDS said. “And I heard the new HW champ-the guy who beat Klitschko, Tyson Fury, wants to face an MMA fighter. Tyson, I’m right here man-it would be an honor-you would make my life way better not worrying about takedowns and kicks. I would love to fight you!”
Surely, there will need to be many hoops to jump through to make this a reality, however. Dana White, president of the UFC, while allowing his fighters to participate in other certain forms of combat sports, does not let his fighters participate in boxing so long as they are signed under the UFC banner. Furthermore, Tyson Fury owes Wladimir Klitschko an immediate rematch, likely to take place in either April or May. Be that as it may, this would certainly be an interesting fight if it ever were to happen, and fight fans from all different disciplines should be intrigued and excited about this potential boxing vs MMA clash.
